Biographical Information[edit]
John Baum has been a prominent coach in Switzerland.
Baum set Indiana Tech school records for runs (88), home runs (22), RBI (83), total bases (178) and saves (9) in a season in 1999. His .390 career average was a school record (since broken). He played in the 1998 NAIA College World Series and 1999 NAIA College World Series. He coached the Dornbirn Indians of the Austrian Baseball League from 2003-2004. He then became manager-player for the Bern Cardinals, guiding them to 7 Ligue Nationale A titles in Switzerland through 2012 and a trip to the 2013 European Cup, the first Swiss team in European Cup history. He also coached for the Swiss national team in the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers.
