Joe Ross (college01)
Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Ross has been a college coach, scout and coach in the Netherlands.
Ross played in the Hoofdklasse for three years and also coached two teams in the Hoofdklasse. He was head coach of his alma mater from 1980-1986. He was 180-38 in six seasons as coach of Normandale Community College from 1987-1992. He also was a coach for the US in the 1991 World Junior Championship and managed the US in the 1992 World Junior Championship (they won a Silver Medal; Alex Rodriguez, Preston Wilson and A.J. Hinch were on the team).
Ross was assistant coach for the University of Washington from 1993-2008, working as recruiting coach and hitting coach. His 1996 class rated the 8th-best in the country. Among the hitters he worked with were Chris Magruder and Brent Lillibridge. His recruiting class's top highlight would be Tim Lincecum. He has also scouted for the New York Mets, New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners. He signed Jack Marder and Stefen Romero.
His son Alexander Ross was drafted in 2012.
