Biographical information[edit]
Middle infielder Joe Lehan played from 1937 to 1940 and had a short, but successful, minor league career.
He joined the Boston Braves system and played for the Class-D Salisbury Bees of the North Carolina State League in 1937. In 112 games, he hit .276 with 25 doubles, eight triples and four home runs. The following year, with the Lexington Bees - also affiliated with the Braves - of the KITTY League, he hit .288/.345/.341 with 80 runs in 120 games.
In 1939, Lehan played for the Bowling Green Barons and hit .318 with 27 doubles in 126 games. He wrapped up his career in 1940, hitting .359 with 45 doubles in 125 games for the Barons, who were by that point affiliated with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was 4th in the KITTY League in doubles and third in hits, behind Frank McElyea and Mike Powers.
Overall, he hit .312 with 589 hits, 112 doubles, 28 triples and 12 home runs in 483 games.
