Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Kernan played two games for the 1873 Baltimore Marylands of the National Association. He may have played for the Marylands in 1870 when they were an amateur team but he didn't play pro ball in 1871-1872 (the Marylands did not field a team in the NA those years).
Not much is known about Kernan, except for his rather unusual name. A man named Joseph Kernan, who was of appropriate age to have been the ballplayer, died in Baltimore, MD on February 16, 1911, but there is no conclusive evidence that he was the player.
