Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Joe Gaetti is the son of Gary Gaetti. He hit .256/.338/.413 as a college freshman, then improved to a .368/.468/.516 line in 2002 as a sophomore. His average fell in his junior year but he improved his power and batted .270/.348/.539. The Colorado Rockies took him in the 12th round of the 2003 amateur draft.

Joe began his professional baseball career with the Tri-City Dust Devils, batting .276/.348/.474 and leading the club's regulars in slugging percentage. In 2004, Gaetti moved up to the Asheville Tourists, where he continued to show some power (.257/.370/.457, 16 HR). At age 23, he played for the Modesto Nuts and hit a lofty .332/.418/.605 with 21 homers, 90 runs and 87 RBI. He finished third in the California League in average behind Miguel Montero and Billy Butler and made the league All-Star team.

In 2006, Joe did well in AA, batting .296/.369/.497 with 16 HR for the Tulsa Drillers.

He hit .254/.333/.473 with 19 home runs and 60 RBI while splitting time between the Drillers and Colorado Springs Sky Sox in 2007.
