Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Joe Erautt played in the majors with the Chicago White Sox in 1950 and 1951 at ages 28-29, appearing in 32 games. He was the only major leaguer out of the University of Portland between the years 1942-1982. He is also one of only seven major leaguers (through 2011) born in Saskatchewan.
Phil Masi was the regular catcher both years that Joe was up with the White Sox.
Joe Erautt served in Italy and Algeria with the U.S. Army in World War II (BN). He was a staff sergeant. (VA Grave Locator).
In an interview decades later, Johnny Pesky remembered that Joe had been a great high school player in Portland, OR.
He was the brother of Eddie Erautt
