Jimmy Starks was a first baseman who shared the first Puerto Rican League home run crown.

Starks hit .242/.273/.295 for the 1934 Newark Dodgers and improved to .324/.367/.595 a year later, with 6 HR in 74 AB. In 1937, he was 6 for 18 with a double and homer for the Pittsburgh Crawfords. He split 1938 between the Homestead Grays and New York Black Yankees, going 6 for 26 with a triple as a bench player. He went deep 8 times for the 1938-1939 Indios de Mayaguez to tie the more notable Ed Stone for the lead in the first Puerto Rican League campaign.

The big infielder was 15 for 29 with a double for the Black Yankees in 1940. A starter for the club in 1941, he hit .288/.329/.439, but he was just 6 for 54 with two doubles in 1942. He was 3 for 21 with a double and a homer for the 1943 St. Louis-Harrisburg Stars. Back with the Black Yankees in 1944, he was 2 for 14. He also went 6 for 31 with 5 walks, two doubles and a homer that year for the Mexico City Red Devils. He was 2 for 17 between New York and the Birmingham Black Barons in 1945. He went 1 for 1 in 1946 to end his career.
