Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Jimmy McMath was just 19 when he made his debut on September 7, 1968 as a member of the Chicago Cubs against the Philadelphia Phillies. He started the game in left field, hitting 5th and went 1 for 5. He had an RBI single in the 5th inning against Jerry Johnson. His second hit was another RBI single, on September 10th, off Ron Taylor. McMath never made it back to the majors after his brief stint that September.
McMath had garnered some attention hitting .388 in 51 games for the Quincy Cubs in 1968. He also played for the San Antonio Missions in parts of 1968, 1969 and 1971, was with the Tacoma Cubs for parts of 1969 and 1970, and came back to Quincy for part of 1971.
