Jimmy Brouthers
James Brouthers
Biographical Information[edit]
The brother of Dan Brouthers, Jimmy Brouthers played in the minor leagues as both an infielder and outfielder. Most of his statistics are unavailable as of August 2012. He played for the 1883 Grand Rapids club, then hit .208/?/.278 for the 1884 Trenton Trentonians as a starting outfielder. All the club's other starters would appear in the majors at some point. He fell to .182/?/.255 in 1885, playing right field when Mike Tiernan was taking his turns on the hill. Jimmy batted .266/?/.349 with the 1886 Buffalo Bisons. His 72 runs were second on the club behind John McGlone; every International League player who scored more runs that season would be in the big leagues.
In 1887, Brouthers played for three different International Association clubs, then he spent 1888 with the Jackson Javons. In 1889, Brouthers batted .198/?/.240 for the Oneida Indians. He spent 1891 with the Salem and Waterbury clubs, his last known stops in pro ball.
