Biographical Information[edit]
It is unclear when Jim Oliver's professional career began. The Ethiopian Clowns had employed a shortstop known as Selassie from 1938-1942, but many Clowns used the name over the years. Oliver was definitely the Clowns' shortstop Selassie in 1943 and also was with the Birmingham Black Barons next week. From 1944 through 1946, Pee Wee played shortstop for the Clowns. Oliver's sons Nate Oliver and Jim Oliver Jr. both played baseball as well.
