Jim Menzel
Jim Menzel was a member of the German national team in the 1973 Amateur World Series; statistics are unavailable. In the 1975 European Championship, he was both Germany's ace (3-2, 2.37) and top hitter (.286/.333/.714, 4 HR, 6 R, 8 RBI, 3 SB in 7 G). He led Germany in homers, RBI and slugging and was second in runs (behind Tom König) and steals (one behind Rainer Radu). He started five of Germany's seven games (Peter Budny started the other two) and completed four of them, working 38 of Germany's 63 innings pitched. Germany won the Bronze in their last Euros until 1987.
Despite only one event for which stats are known, Menzel was on the career German team leaderboard (through 2010) in homers (tied for 8th with Jürgen Helmig and Kai Gronauer), ERA (2nd, .25 behind Enorbel Marquez Ramirez), wins (tied for 6th with Claus Helmig, Martin Helmig and Tim Henkenjohann) and WHIP (1.16, 4th, behind Manuel Möller, Jürgen Helmig and Helmut Buchner).
