Biographical information[edit]
Jim Eliopoulos was a catcher for the 1984 Canadian Olympic baseball team and he was also a bullpen catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1980s.
Jimmy played for Canada at the Haarlem Honkbal tournament in the Netherlands in 1984, when his team beat the host in the final.
He is still involved with the sport. He was hired as a "roving instructor" in 2009 for a local Toronto-area youth team, and had worked as a coach for youth teams in 2007 and 2008.
Like Father, Like Son[edit]
His son Jake Eliopoulos (adopted as a baby) is also involved in the sport; he played baseball in the Intercounty Baseball League and was picked in the second round of the 2009 Amateur Draft. The elder Eliopoulos was also in the Intercounty League as a catcher for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1980s.
