Biographical Information

Pennsylvania native Jim Clark spent fourteen active seasons in professional baseball from 1945 to 1960, suiting up with 21 teams in 13 different leagues.

Clark's big league career consisted of 9 games with the Washington Senators in 1948, batting .250 (3-for-12). He was with the Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern Association much of the season, playing well in 99 games, and was called up in August. He played through 1960 in the minors, hitting in the .280 range for much of 1952-195, hitting .289 with 32 RBI for the Oklahoma City Indians of the Texas League in the final year of the stretch. In the minors, he appeared in 1,168 games, hitting an estimated .262 while fielding .960 at shortstop.

After baseball, he owned and operated an apartment building for 15 years. He died at 63 from arteriosclerotic heart disease at his home in Santa Monica, CA on October 24, 1990. He was cremated and his ashes scattered off the coast of Long Beach, CA.
