Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Bucher played seven seasons in the major leagues. He played roughly equal time at second and third base with a steady amount of outfield play. He hit .302 for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1935 under manager Casey Stengel, and was later traded to the St. Louis Cardinals after the 1937 season, along with others, for Leo Durocher. He finished his big league time as a wartime utility man with the Boston Red Sox. Prior to his big league call up, Jim nearly won the Triple Crown while playing in 1933 for the Greensboro Patriots of the Piedmont League, missing by one RBI. He was with the Toledo Mud Hens from 1942 to 1944.
After baseball, he worked for the government.
