Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Jim Banning made his debut with the 1888 Washington Nationals, a team on which the regular catcher was the young Connie Mack. He is the only major leaguer with the last name Banning (through 2019), although there have been two named Bannon and three named Bannister.
