Biographical Information[edit]

Jie Cao has played in the minors and for the Chinese national team.

Cao hit .188/.250/.250 for the 2018 Texas AirHogs with 23 K in 48 AB; he fielded .967 as their #3 first baseman. The AirHogs at the time had a deal with China to host members of its national team. He also played that year for the Jiangsu Pegasus of the China Baseball League. [1] In 2019, he batted .175/.219/.203 in 56 games for the AirHogs, playing all four infield slots but mostly backing up Junpeng Chen at 1B and Jinjun Luo and Matt Dean at 3B.

He hit only .176/.176/.176 as China's third baseman in the 2019 Asian Championship but played his best in the Bronze Medal Game, a 8-6 upset of South Korea; he went 1 for 2 with a walk, hit-by-pitch, run and RBI as China won its second Bronze ever in an Asian Championship. [2]
