Biographical Information[edit]

Jhonatan Escudero has been a pro pitcher.

Escudero made his pro debut with the 2010 VSL Cardinals, going 0-6 with a 5.24 ERA, walking 27 in 34 1/3 IP. He tied for the Venezuelan Summer League lead in losses. In 2011, he had a 2-5, 4.95 record with 33 BB in 43 2/3 IP for the DSL Cardinals. Back with the same club in 2012, he improved to 7-1, 2.88 and cut his walks significantly (24 in 50 IP). He tied for 8th in the Dominican Summer League in wins.

The Cartagena native was 1-1 wit ha 2.81 ERA for the 2013 GCL Cardinals, whiffing 41 in 32 innings. He tied for second in the Gulf Coast League with five holds and tied for fifth with 20 games pitched. In 2014, he was 5-1 with two saves and a 2.68 ERA for the Johnson City Cardinals, K'ing 56 in 40 1/3 innings. He had a 1.42 ERA in the postseason. His .190 opponent average was fifth-best among Appalachian League relievers. He split 2015 between Johnson City (2-2, Sv, 2.86, 37 K in 34 2/3 IP), GCL Cardinals (0 R in 2 IP), State College Spikes (1 R in 3 IP) and Palm Beach Cardinals (R in 1 2/3 IP). His .140 average allowed for Johnson City was the lowest among Appy League relief pitchers.

In March 2016, he was on the Colombian national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers but didn't get into a game (they used only 9 of their 15 pitchers) as Colombia won a spot in the World Baseball Classic for the first time.
