Biographical Information[edit]
Second baseman Jeudy Valdez played in the minor leagues from 2006 to 2015.
Valdez was signed by scout Felix Francisco for the Padres in 2005 and began his professional career in 2006, playing for the DSL Padres, hitting .238 with 12 stolen bases in 47 games. He played for the AZL Padres in 2007, hitting .281 with three home runs, 30 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 47 games. In 2008, he played for the Eugene Emeralds, hitting .227 with five home runs and 22 RBI in 59 games. He split 2009 between the AZL Padres and Fort Wayne TinCaps, hitting .232 with 14 stolen bases in 61 games. He played in 132 games in 2010 for the TinCaps, hitting .247 with 10 home runs, 76 RBI and 34 stolen bases. With the Lake Elsinore Storm in 2011, he hit .295/.339/.481 with 15 home runs, 92 RBI, 34 stolen bases, 37 doubles and 93 runs scored for the Lake Elsinore Storm.
He struggled upon reaching the mid-minors, hitting .225/.273/.364 with 12 home runs, 46 RBI and 13 steals for the San Antonio Missions in 2012 and in 2013, with the same club, he hit .251/.300/.406 with 10 home runs, 49 RBI and 16 steals. He became a free agent following the campaign and signed with the Chicago Cubs. He struggled in their system and signed back with the Padres, but struggled in their system, too. Between the organizations, he hit .217/.287/.304. He played independent ball in 2015, hitting .250/.304/.395 with 22 steals between the Laredo Lemurs, Washington Wild Things and Bridgeport Bluefish.
He was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2010 and 2013 and a MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2011.
In 886 games in the minor and independent leagues, he hit .249 with 68 home runs, 404 RBI and 165 stolen bases.
