Biographical Information

Diminutive shortstop Jett Williams, who is listed at only 5' 6", was nevertheless selected by the New York Mets with the 14th overall pick of the 2022 amateur draft, out of a high school in Texas. He was the shortest player to ever be selected in the 1st round of the amateur draft. He was the Mets' second first-round selection that year, taken with their regular pick, after they had selected college catcher Kevin Parada 11th overall with a pick received as compensation for their failure to sign Kumar Rocker the year before.

He made his pro debut with the FCL Mets the year he was drafted, going 8 for 32 (.250) in 10 games. In 2023, he was with three different teams, starting off with the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League for 79 games, and then moving on to the Brooklyn Cyclones of the South Atlantic League for 36 games, and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies of the Eastern League for another 6. As a result, he was in AA at age 19. His combined slash line was .263/.425/.451 in 121 games, with 81 runs, 13 homers and 55 RBIs. He was named a Mets organizational All-Star after the season.

In 2024, he was limited to 33 games by a wrist injury he suffered in April and which required surgery, but still managed to make it to AAA, going 8 for 22 (.364) in 6 games for the Syracuse Mets. He also played in St. Lucie and Binghamton, but overall batted just .215 with no homers and 4 RBIs. After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League with the Scottsdale Scorpions.
