Biographical Information[edit]
Jesus Brito is a former minor league player.
Brito was signed by scout Johnny Martinez in 2005. He debuted professionally in 2006, hitting .223/.348/.319 for the DSL Indians. In 2007, he batted .210/.335/.314 while playing left field and all four infield positions. During 2008, Jesus hit .239/.360/.283 with 44 walks in 68 games and 20 steals in 25 tries for the DSL Indians while playing mostly left field.
Coming to the US in 2009, Brito improved significantly, producing at a .366/.439/.642 rate for the AZL Indians with 36 runs and 8 triples in 35 games and he hit .333/.419/.459 in 25 contests for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. His composite .353 average was 5th in the affiliated minors. The big negative was defense as he fielded .872 at third base. He led the AZL in average and OBP and was second in slugging behind Cody Decker and was third in triples. He made the AZL All-Star team at third base.
In January 2010, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Brian Bixler.
