Jesús Monter was a long-time umpire in the Mexican League who was elected to the Salón de la Fama as part of its 2013 class.
He started his umpiring career in 1975 in the Mexican Center League and was promoted to la Liga that same year for the final two months of the season. In all he managed in the senior league for 23 seasons, retiring after the 1997 campaign. He umpired his first postseason games in 1977, and his first Mexican League finals in 1979, his first of 13 times being selected for these series, and most of those times, he acted as the crew chief. In all, he umpired in 21 postseason series during his career; he also officiated in four All-Star Games. He also worked 17 season in the Mexican Pacific League and worked in 8 editions of the Caribbean Series.
On July 4, 1995, he was the official for an exceptional Mexican League game staged at the Astrodome in Houston, TX between the Charros de Jalisco and the Industriales de Monterrey. On five occasions, he was the umpire in games between Mexican League teams and teams from Major League Baseball, or exhibition games between MLB teams staged in Mexico.
