Biographical Information[edit]
Jesus Figueroa played one big league season, 1980 with the Chicago Cubs. Used mostly as a pinch-hitter Figueroa hit a respectable .253. He was traded to the San Francisco Giants in the off-season but never made it back to the majors. Had one career home run on August 7th, against Eddie Solomon of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He had served 18 months in the Dominican army.
Originally signed by the New York Yankees, he was drafted by the Cubs in the minor league portion of the 1977 Rule V Draft.
Figueroa later became a batting practice pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, a position he has held starting in 1989.
