Biographical Information

Jerry Morales was drilled in the kneecap with a pitch from Sparky Lyle of the New York Yankees in his lone All-Star Game appearance. He played semi-regularly for two seasons with two teams after that All-Star campaign (the St. Louis Cardinals in 1978 and the Detroit Tigers in 1979) before finishing his career with four seasons as a part-timer.

Morales was considered one of the finest fielding outfielders in the history of the Puerto Rican Winter Baseball League. He played for the Caguas Creoles and the Santurce Crabbers. He had been on the Puerto Rican national team that won Bronze in the 1966 Central American and Caribbean Games.

After playing, he spent some time as the Chicago Cubs roving hitting and outfield instructor (1986), a Los Angeles Dodgers scout (1987-1990) and the first base/outfield coach with the Montreal Expos (2002-2004) and Washington Nationals (2007-2008). He most recently worked as a coach for the St. Lucie Mets.
