Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Jeromy Palki spent 11 seasons in the minor leagues, peaking at the AAA. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 47 round of the 1995 Amateur Draft and began his career in their chain in 1995, pitching in four unimpressive games with the rookie league AZL Mariners (no record, 7.94 ERA). He spent the next season with the same team and did much better; in 18 games -- all in relief -- Palki went 1-1 with 6 saves and an ERA of 2.47. He moved up to the A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 1997, appearing in 44 games with a record of 9-3 accompanied by a 2.78 ERA and 8 saves. Palki was sent to the Minnesota Twins on October 9 with Joe Mays to complete a deal made August 20 in which the M's acquired rent-a-player Roberto Kelly for two players to be named later. Mays would become an All-Star with the Twins and Kelly would sign with the Texas Rangers during the offseason.
Palki spent his first season in his new organization with the advanced A Fort Myers Miracle. He did not have the same success as he did the previous two years, going 0-4 with a 4.76 ERA -- nearly two points higher than '97; he did have four saves, though. He was back in the rookie league in 1999, but only pitched in three games (one start) for the GCL Twins. He had no record and an ERA of zero. Back in Fort Meyers in 2000, Palki had a bounce back year posting an ERA of 3.21 to go along with a 6-3 record and 3 saves. He began 2001 with the Miracle, but pitched very well in 12 games (1-1, 1.80 ERA) before being moved to the AA level and the New Britain Rock Cats. With the Rock Cats, he continued to succeed, going 3-1 with an ERA of 2.83 in 31 games, two starts.
2002 was another good year for the right-hander. He began the year back with New Britain and appeared in 30 games with the Rock Cats. He posted a 3-3 record along with a 3.17 ERA before being moved up to the AAA level. He appeared in 26 games for the Edmonton Trappers, going 3-3 with an ERA of 4.15. 2003 saw Palki continue to pitch in AAA ball, this time with the Rochester Red Wings (minor league affiliation changed hands in the offseason). He pitched in 47 contests, seven starts, and went 7-6 with a 4.10 ERA; this year also saw his only professional complete game. He continued on with the Red Wings in 2004, where he posted a record of 2-0 accompanied by a 4.44 ERA. 28 years old by seasons end, his progress had stagnated somewhat, as he had similar ERAs in all of his AAA seasons.
Palki spent 2005 -- his final professional season -- in the unaffiliated Mexican League, pitching in 12 games for the Leones de Yucatan. His record that season was 3-1 and his ERA was 2.70.
