Jeremie Rehak

Biographical Information[edit]

Umpire Jeremie Rehak worked his first major league game early in the 2018 season. He graduated from the Hunter Wendelstedt umpiring school and worked in the Gulf Coast League (2011), the Appalachian League (2012), the Midwest League (2013), the California League (2013), the Eastern League (2014-2015) before being added to the International League roster in 2016. He worked major league spring training games in both 2017 and 2018.

A native of Murrysville, PA, he made his major league debut only a few days before Jansen Visconti, a fellow native of western Pennsylvania. He later attended the Ohio University where he played on the varsity baseball team. As of 2023, he was one of only five African-American umpires in the major leagues. While this may not seem like a large number, for most of the years after Emmett Ashford became the major leagues' first African-American umpire, there had only been one or two at the major league level, so it represented a bit of progress.
