Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Jeff Smith was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 20th round of the 1995 amateur draft. He caught in the minor leagues for 9 seasons, playing 2/3 of his career games at the AA level, for the Twins (1996-2002), Boston Red Sox (2003) and Texas Rangers (2003-2004).
He coached the GCL Twins in 2005, managed the Beloit Snappers in 2006-2007, the Fort Myers Miracle in 2008 & 2009. Starting in 2010 Smith has managed the New Britain Rock Cats. In 2017, he was named the first base coach of the parent Minnesota Twins,staying until the end of the 2018 season. Smith was scheduled to be manager for the Charlotte Stone Crabs in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19.
