Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Jeff Holly appeared in 39 games for the Minnesota Twins between 1977 and 1979. His best season was in 1978, when he went 1-1, 3.57 in 15 games, including 1 start. In his other two seasons, his ERA was 6.89 and 7.11. Bizarrely, he had a poor K/W ratio in the only season in which he was effective, walking 18 and striking out just 12 in 35 1/3 innings, while he had 32 strikeouts and 12 walks in 48 1/3 innings in his first season.
His professional career lasted from 1971 to 1979 and included a stint in the Mexican League with the Alacranes de Durango in 1975. He was originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round of the 1971 amateur draft and pitched in their system until being released early in 1976. He was signed by the Twins in May of that year, then made his big league debut a year later. In December of 1979, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers in return for Fernando Arroyo but never pitched in the Tigers organization after the trade.
It was reported that he had died in February of 2024 but no details were forthcoming. His last known place of residence had been in Newberg, OR.
