Biographical Information[edit]
Jayce Easley is the youngest son of 1998 All-Star Damion Easley. He was a 5th round draft selection of the Texas Rangers in the 2018 amateur draft, after which he was assigned to the AZL Rangers. He slashed .287/.389/.325 in 42 games, playing both second base and shortstop. He moved up the Rangers chain to class A in 2019. However, he only got into 4 games; he failed to get a hit but he scored twice and walked 7 times. His on-base percentage was .412 in limited action with the Spokane Indians.
After the 2020 minor league hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, he spent 2021 with the Down East Wood Ducks. In 98 games, he produced a slash line of .244/.403/.309. He hit his first professional home run and also his first 3 triples. While he wasn't showing much extra base power, he did show good plate discipline, walking 77 times in 401 plate appearances. In addition, he was moved from second base to the outfield, mostly appearing as a center fielder, but also at both corner spots and one game at third base.
He moved up to the A+ Hickory Crawdads in 2022. He spent two stints on the injured list and only saw action in 56 games at the A+ level. Including a three-game stint with the ACL Rangers on a rehab assignment, his slash line for the year was .231/.378/.346. He hit 4 home runs in 182 at bats. He also played 13 games for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League, during which he slashed .375/.556/.583.
He began 2023 back with Hickory, where he began the year slashing .200/.333/.267 through the first seven weeks of the season, walking 18 times in 113 plate appearances, playing mostly second base, third base, and left field.
