Biographical Information[edit]
Jay Schlueter played for the Houston Astros in 1971 and also was in the minors for nine seasons. He appeared in seven games for the Astros, going 1 for 3 as a hitter.
Greg Gross had been a center fielder in the minors up through Double A, but Schlueter was the center fielder in Triple A, so Gross moved over. Both had the misfortune that the center fielder at the major league level for the Astros was Cesar Cedeno.
