Biographical Information[edit]

Javier Espinoza was briefly a minor league player and later was a manager for years.

Espinoza went 0 for 2 for the 1960 Leon Diablos Rojos. In 1964, the right-hander was 0-1 with a 8.44 ERA for the Jalisco Charros and 3-11 with a 7.02 ERA for the Fresnillo Charros. He tied for fourth in the Mexican Center League in losses. He hit .229/.274/.339 in 100 games for the 1966 Pericos de Puebla, fielding .958 in the outfield, in a year away from the pitching mound. He next surfaced with the '68 San Luis Rio Colorado Algodoneros, with one game pitched and zero innings, hits or walks. In 1969, he was the manager for San Luis Rio Colorado, guiding them to a 48-42 record and second-place finish. He also pitched two shutout innings.

Javier later managed the Monterrey Indios (1970-1971), Plataneros de Tabasco (1985), Saraperos de Saltillo (1986), Bravos de León (1988), Ganaderos de Tabasco (1988), Tigres de México (1989) and Piratas de Campeche (1994). All of the 1980s stints were partial seasons at the helm.
