Biographical Information[edit]

Jason Wuerfel attended the University of Michigan where he lettered four times in Baseball and was the 2003 recipient of the Wolverine Award for Spirit and Leadership.

After graduating, Wuerfel went on to a short lived professional playing career in the Independent Frontier League where he spent time with the Elmira Pioneers, Mid-Missouri Mavericks and the Ohio Valley Redcoats. After his playing career, Jason was named Vice President and Director of Baseball Operations for the Traverse City Beach Bums prior to the team's 2006 inaugural season. Jason served as the Beach Bums hitting coach in 2008, and bench coach in 2009-2013 in addition to his player procurement duties. Jason also managed the Butler BlueSox of the Prospect Collegiate League in 2009 and 2010.

Jason Wuerfel is the son of John and Leslye Wuerfel, owners of the Traverse City Beach Bums and Wuerfel Park. Jason owns and operates the Beach Bums Baseball Academy which teaches skills to young players, as well as founding Five Tools Prospects, a site dedicated to baseball news of all levels - MLB, MiLB, Independent, College, and High School. Jason published his first novel, Pray for Rain: A College Baseball Story, in 2005.
