Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jason Satre played professionally from 1988 to 1996, beginning his career at 17 years old. He reached Triple-A three times, but never played in the major leagues.

He was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 27th round of the 1988 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of pitcher Scott Stahoviak. He began his career by going 0-3 with a 2.49 ERA for the GCL Reds in 1988, then followed that with records of 7-13, 6-12 and 9-13. After another losing season in 1992, he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles with fellow minor league pitcher Reggie Leslie for minor league outfielder Rod Lofton. He improved to 7-3 with a 3.15 ERA at Double-A in 1993, but in his first try at Triple-A, he was just 4-5, 5.85 in 15 starts for the Rochester Red Wings. Nevertheless, they combined for the only winning record of his career at 11-8, to go along with a 4.45 mark. He returned to Rochester for 1994, then pitched for the Boston Red Sox Triple-A club, the Pawtucket Red Sox in 1995. He also spent part of 1995 and all of 1996 in the independent Texas-Louisiana League, where he found some success, posting a 3.27 ERA in 93 2/3 innings in 1995.

Overall, Satre went 48-72 with a 4.38 ERA in 204 games (164 starts). In 989 1/3 innings, he allowed 905 hits and 503 walks, while striking out 736 batters.
