Biographical Information[edit]
Jason Huisman is the brother of Justin Huisman.
Huisman was Illinois Baseball Player of the Year in high school in 1994. The Los Angeles Dodgers took him in the 8th round of the 1994 amateur draft but he opted for college. Huisman hit .321 in college in 1997 then .366 with 21 home runs and 81 RBI as a senior in 1998. The Anaheim Angels picked him in the 14th round of the 1998 amateur draft.
Jason had a good pro debut, batting .325/.398/.459 as a utility infielder for the 1998 Boise Hawks. He placed 8th in the Northwest League in average, between Chris Magruder and David Ross, and was named the All-Star second baseman. In '99, Huisman put up a .275/.322/.367 line for the Lake Elsinore Storm. He fielded only .879 at third base. During 2000, he was a reliable utility man for the Erie Sea Wolves (.274/.346/.365, 14 SB in 18 tries).
Huisman spent his last two seasons as a player with the Arkansas Travelers, hitting .278/.349/.418 with a career-high 10 homers in 2001 and .243/.301/.365 in 2002. Retiring as a player, he was assistant coach at Concordia University-Chicago from 2006-2008, then became head coach of Trinity Christian College in 2009, going 12-30. He improved to 20-24 in 2010, then switched jobs with his brother Justin, who had been his assistant coach.
Huisman has also been the Village Administrator of South Holland, IL.
