Biographical information[edit]

Jarman Leach is a former minor league baseball pitcher who played from 1994 to 1996 in the San Diego Padres farm system. He is the brother of Jalal Leach.

Jarman was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 88th round of the 1991 amateur draft. He did not sign. When he was drafted by the Padres in the 38th round of the 1994 amateur draft, however, he did sign. The signing scout was David Finley.

A reliever, Leach began his career with the Spokane Indians in 1994. With them, he struck out 36 batters and posted a 4.28 ERA in 54 2/3 innings of work (23 games, 3 starts). The following year, he appeared in in 19 games - all in relief - for the Clinton LumberKings, posting a 3.71 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings of work. He spent all of 1996 with the LumberKings, making 10 relief appearances and posting an ERA of 4.97. In 1996 he also played for the Greenville Bluesmen of the independent Big South League.

Overall, in affiliated minor league ball Leach went 4-7 with a 4.21 ERA in 52 appearances. In 94 innings, he struck out 51 batters and walked 43.

Since retiring from baseball, Leach has worked alongside his brother and other various coaches and professionals at a baseball center called Baseball Mentoring Program.
