Biographical Information

Jared Gaynor played high school ball at Scottsdale Christian Academy which only had about 300 students. One of his coaches was Bill Swift who pitched in the major leagues for 13 seasons. Gaynor later credited Swift with developing him into the pitcher Gaynor became.

After high school, Gaynor pitched two years for South Mountain Community College before transferring to George Mason University for his final two collegiate seasons. As a student he earned an associate's degree (2012), a bachelor's degree (2014) in health management, and eventually a master's degree (2019) in sports leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Gaynor was not drafted out of high school or college, but did play professionally for four seasons (2014-2017) in independent ball. As a professional, Gaynor pitched mostly in relief and earned a 4-9 record with an ERA of 4.68 while appearing in 66 games.

Gaynor began his coaching career before his playing career ended. He coached the Coronado High School Dons in 2015 and served as their head coach in 2016. Gaynor moved to the college ranks as the pitching coach for the Arizona Christian University Firestorm in 2017-2018. In the summer of 2018 he was the head coach for the Lima Locos, a team that competed in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. Gaynor's next gig was Director of Baseball Operations for the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams while working on his master's degree.

Gaynor returned to professional baseball in May 2019 as a pitching coach for the Cedar Rapids Kernels in the Minnesota Twins organization. He was scheduled to be a DSL Twins pitching coach in 2020 before COVID-19 shut down the minor league season. Gaynor moved up to the FCL Twins in 2021 and Fort Myers Mighty Mussels in 2022-2023.
