Biographical Information[edit]

Jake Fishman reached the majors in 2022, one year after pitching in the Olympics.

Fishman was a 30th-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2016 amateur draft. He was 0-1 with a 4.83 ERA that summer for the GCL Blue Jays. The next year, he pitched for the GCL Blue Jays (0 R in 1 IP), Vancouver Canadians (1-0, Sv, 1.17 in 14 G) and Lansing Lugnuts (0-1, 4.15 in 4 G). He was 2-3 with 8 saves and a 2.68 ERA for the '18 Dunedin Blue Jays with only 11 walks in 57 IP (56 K) and pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings for the Buffalo Bisons as well. He tied Joel Kuhnel and Ryan Hendrix for 2nd in the Florida State League with 44 games pitched. Among Jays farmhands, only Justin Shafer pitched more games.

With the 2019 New Hampshire Fisher Cats, he went 1-1 with four saves and a 3.45 ERA. He was 7th on the Toronto farm with 42 games pitched. He missed the 2020 season as the minor league campaign was shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic. He was selected by the Miami Marlins in the AAA phase of the 2020 Rule V Draft. Starting 2021 with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, he was doing well when he joined the Israeli national team for the Tokyo Olympics.
