Biographical Information[edit]
Jaime Arias has pitched in the minors and for the Mexican national team.
Arias was 6-0 with a 1.58 ERA as a high school sophomore and 4-4 with a 1.54 ERA as a senior. [1] As a college freshman, he was 5-1 with a 3.69 ERA, 4th in the Mountain West Conference in ERA and tied for 8th in wins. He was 1-3 with 12 saves and a 3.28 ERA as a sophomore, one shy of Brandon Burke's school record for saves. [2] He was 2-1 with a 3.75 ERA in the COVID-19-shortened 2020.
He was signed by the Cleveland Indians as an undrafted free agent in 2020, with a very short draft due to COVID - in another year, he likely would have been picked. He went 8-4 with a 3.21 ERA for the Lynchburg Hillcats in his first year. Only Taj Bradley and Jordan DiValerio had more wins in the Low-A East. He was 0-1 with a 6.34 ERA for the Akron RubberDucks in 2022, and he also had a 1-4 record with a 5.56 ERA for the Lake County Captains in 14 appearances. Arias pitched 2 games for the AAA Columbus Clippers in that season, and he allowed 2 runs in 3 1/3 innings. He then made it onto Mexico's roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but he didn't pitch any games. He struggled again in 2023, and his ERA was 6.14 in 2 games for the Clippers, 6.46 in 6 games for the RubberDucks and 4.70 in 4 games for the Captains.
