Biographical Information[edit]

Jae-min Shim has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korean national team.

Shim was selected by the KT Wiz in the special round for the expansion teams of the 2014 KBO draft, and he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2014 so he missed the entire season. He recorded a 6.87 ERA in 50 games in 2015, and he became the first pitcher to hit four batters in an inning in Asian professional baseball history, on June 2. Shim then notched 7 holds with a 5.47 ERA in 59 games in 2016, and he collected 13 holds with a 5.18 ERA in 64 relief outings in 2017. He represented Korea in the 2017 Asia Professional Baseball Championship, and he pitched 2/3 of a shutout inning with 2 walks against Japan in the Gold Medal Game; Japan beat Korea with a 7-0 score.

The Gimhae native was 4-5 with a 4.61 ERA in 2018, and he missed the next two seasons due to military service. Shim had a solid 2.89 ERA in 28 games in 2021 after returning, and he was 4-1 with a 3.74 ERA and 6 holds in 2022. The Wiz then traded him to the Lotte Giants for Ho-yeon Lee, and Shim ended up getting 6 holds with a 3.78 ERA in 33 games in 2023. However, he had a left shoulder injury in 2024, and he missed the entire season.
