He transferred to Youngstown State and twice was All-Conference at shortstop there, setting single-season school records in homers (12), runs (63) and RBI (59). The Houston Astros, behind scout Nick Venuto, took him in the 27th round of the 2010 amateur draft.

Jacke made his pro debut with the Tri-City ValleyCats, hitting .170/.211/.383 as their starting shortstop; 11 of his 24 hits went for extra bases. He returned to his old high school as an assistant coach in 2012, then was a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh in 2013 before becoming an assistant at Oakland University in 2014, going from the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh to Oakland University in Michigan.
