Biographical Information[edit]

Missouri native Jack Phillips spent seven seasons in professional baseball from 1942 to 1948. Phillips was with the New York Giants in 1945. He debuted on July 13th, pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up five hits and five runs for a 10.38 ERA. At the plate, he was one for two with a run. His only other game in the majors came 18 days later when he pinch-ran for Van Mungo.

This was his only work in the big leagues.

Phillips spent the rest of his career in the minor leagues with his best numbers coming in 1946 with the Montgomery Rebels of the class B Southeastern League. Jack went 11-8 with a 3.14 ERA while pitching 172 innings in 28 games that year. Phillips ended his minor league time in 1948 with a 37-44 record while pitching 733 innings in 127 games.

John Stephen Phillips died June 16, 1958 in St. Louis, MO. He was 39 years of age.
