Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Jack Fleming played in the minor leagues for seven seasons - in the Kansas City Royals system from 1972 to 1977 and the Houston Astros system in 1980 and in Italy for two campaigns.
Not usually a strong hitter, he performed very well at the plate in limited duty in 1973 and 1980. In 1973, he hit .357/.386/.577 with 6 home runs and 36 RBI in 46 games for the rookie level Billings Mustangs. In 1980, he hit .320/.333/.429 with 47 hits in 48 games for the Triple-A Tucson Toros. Overall, he hit .255/.287/.369 with 458 hits, 28 home runs and 211 RBI in 537 minor league games.
Moving to Italy for 1981, Fleming hit .480/.532/.950 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI in 25 regular season games for Pesaro, then .353/.421/.706 with 6 home runs and 15 RBI in 12 Poule Retroseccione matches. In 1982, again with Pesaro, he hit .319/.350/.621 with 10 home runs and 21 RBI in 28 games. He hit .386/.433/.760 with 29 home runs and 74 RBI in 65 games.
