Biographical Information[edit]
The grandson of Jack Dunn and son of Jack Dunn Jr., Jack Dunn III followed his ancestors in having a role with the minor league Baltimore Orioles.
He inherited ownership of the club in 1943 upon the death of his grandmother, Mary Dunn, Jack Dunn's widow. He managed the club briefly in 1949, taking over for Tommy Thomas in a 63-91 campaign. He was replaced by Nick Cullop the next season. He also played in the 1940 Mexican League, hitting .188/~.224/.359 for the Mexico City Red Devils and Nuevo Laredo Owls. Dunn later became the first traveling secretary for the major league Baltimore Orioles, after surrendering the rights to the name to the new ownership, who had relocated the St. Louis Browns to the Cream City before the 1954 season.
During World War II, Dunn was a fighter pilot in air corps.
