Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder J.P. Ramirez played in the minor leagues from 2008 to 2014 and from 2016 to 2018. He was originally taken by the Washington Nationals in the 15th round of the 2008 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of outfielder Joey Butler, and was signed for a $1,000,000 bonus. He was signed by scout Tyler Wilt.

In a brief pro debut in 2008, he showed his potential by hitting .364/.533/.364 in 11 at-bats for the GCL Nationals; Going into 2009, he was ranked the #9 prospect in Washington's system by Baseball America. He never amounted to a high-average hitter in the Nats chain, however in 2010, he hit .296/.341/.470 with 16 home runs and 75 RBI in 132 games for the Hagerstown Suns. He was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star that year. After a couple middling seasons in 2011 and 2012, he moved to the independent ranks for 2013, hitting .300/.341/.441 in 94 games for the Sioux Falls Canaries. In 2014, with the independent Laredo Lemurs, Ramirez hit .304/.347/.475 with 11 home runs and 62 RBI. After not playing in 2015, he joined the Mexican League for 2016 and would remain there through the end of his career. He had a .304 batting average his first year in that circuit, however major successes were sparse overall.

Overall, Ramirez hit .279/.322/.406 with 53 home runs and 344 RBI at all levels.
