Biographical Information[edit]

J.D. Martin was a supplemental 1st round pick in the 2001 amateur draft of the Cleveland Indians, the 35th overall, obtained as compensation for Manny Ramirez signing with the Boston Red Sox. He was signed by scout Jason Smith and made his pro debut that summer. His brother Kevin Martin peaked in AA.

Although he entered the pro ranks in 2001, nearly 20 year later in 2019, he was still pitching as a pro, having appeared that season with the Tulsa Drillers and Oklahoma City Dodgers.

He was born in Ridgecrest, CA, a town famous for earthquakes.
