Biographical Information[edit]
Iván Terrazas is an outfielder who has played for the Mexican national team in several events.
Terrazas signed initially with the Atlanta Braves and spent 2002 and 2003 with their Dominican Summer League team. He hit .276 for them the first year and .301 the second. In 2004, he made his US debut, batting .282/.311/.462 in 37 games for the GCL Braves and winning Player of the Month honors for the Gulf Coast League in July.
Iván produced at a .277/.299/.364 clip in 87 games for the 2005 GCL Braves and made nine errors in 73 games in the outfield. One of his outfield mates, Dutch Antillean Ardley Jansen, would later compete against him in the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup.
Terrazas spent most of 2006 with the Monclova Acereros, hitting .338/.387/.545 with 30 doubles and 80 runs in 94 games. He also appeared briefly for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (7 for 28, 3 2B) and finished the year with the Mississippi Braves (.269/.309/.346 in 16 games). He was 10th in the Mexican League in doubles and tied for 6th in runs.
In 2007, the flyhawk hit at a .304/.349/.496 clip for Monclova and played sparingly for Myrtle Beach (3 for 15). He appeared for Mexico in the 2007 Pan American Games, going 6 for 18 with 2 walks, 2 steals and 3 runs in 4 games to help his country win Bronze.
Terrazas was back with Mexico for the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament. He hit .267/.267/.333 as Mexico failed to advance to the 2008 Olympics.
During 2008, Terrazas played for the Mexico City Red Devils, batting .325/.381/.487 with 8 triples. He tied Jose Macias and Demond Smith for second in the Liga in three-baggers, one behind Quincy Foster. In the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, Iván only hit .227/.357/.318 but still scored 5 and drove in 5 in 7 games as Mexico locked up a slot in the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
