Biographical Information[edit]
Ira Courtney was the third baseman for the US in the 1912 Olympics, going 2 for 3 with a double and two runs; he handled one putout in the field. He also competed in the 100 meter, 200 meter and 4x100 relay in the Olympics that year. He later was a lawyer; he died of injuries sustained when the building housing his firm exploded. He tied Abel Kiviat and Ira Davenport for the most runs and hits in the '12 Olympics. Sources include Olympedia
