Biographical Information[edit]
Ira Davenport played football in college. He ran 48.8 in the 440 yard dash in 1910, the fastest time recorded for the event that year. He won a Bronze medal in the 800-meter dash in the 1912 Olympics. In the baseball exhibition, he hit 6th for the USA and went 2 for 3 with two runs in a 13-3 win while catching for the Americans. He later was football coach at Loras College.
