Indianapolis Athletics
The Indianapolis Athletics were charter members of the Negro American League in 1937. The club from Indianapolis, IN went 16-20 and finished in 6th place in the eight-team league. Managed by Sam Crawford, the team was led by C Casey Walker (.618), OF Bubber Hyde (.457) and SS Ted Strong (.348). Two players hit under .180, though, in a team with a wide range in talent level. The club did not return the next year.
