Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Ichizo Murase played for several years in Nippon Pro Baseball. He debuted with Nagoya in the spring 1938 and hit .152/.269/.223. He was little better - .176/.274/.235 - in the fall campaign. Murase batted .208/.315/.276 in 1939. Ichizo produced at a .188/.308/.275 with 66 walks and 9 triples in 1940. He led the Japanese Professional Baseball League with 78 strikeouts. He split 1941 between Nagoya and Hanshin and was 15 for 75 with a double, homer and nine walks. Overall, Murase had hit .190/.301/.263 in 301 career games in NPB. Murase died in combat during World War II.
