Biographical Information[edit]

Hyeuk-min Kim pitched in the KBO for 8 years.

Kim was drafted by the Hanwha Eagles in the first round of the 2007 KBO draft, and he only pitched 2 games in his first season. He then had a 4-5 record with a 4.55 ERA in 2008, but he had a historically terrible season in 2009. Kim's ERA was 7.87 with a 8-14 record, and he would set the KBO record for highest ERA if he had qualified. In fact if he added enough scoreless innings, he still would've broke Dong-cheol Kim's KBO record. Kim also led the league in runs and losses. He still somehow got 8 wins, and KBO fans referred a pitcher who have many wins with terrible performance as "winning the Hyeuk-min Kim award" (On the other hand, a pitcher who have many losses with a good performance is "winning the Suk-min Yoon award").

The Gunsan native struggled again as his ERA was 6.92 in 9 games (and he didn't get a single win), then he improved to a 5-13 record with a 4.97 ERA in 2011. He was 2nd in losses (2 behind Brandon Knight) and 3rd in home run allowed (4 behind Woo-chan Cha and Seung-min An). Kim went 8-9 with a 4.06 ERA in 2012, and he was 5-10 with a 5.40 ERA in 2013. He led the league in homers in 2013, and he was 5th in losses (4 behind Dana Eveland). His ERA was 11.15 in 17 games in 2014, and he missed the next two seasons due to military service. Kim didn't pitch another game with the big club until he announced his retirement in 2018, and he became the coach of Kyungdong High School in 2023.

Overall, Kim was 30-59 with a 5.72 ERA, struck out 471 and pitched 676 1/3 innings in 8 seasons in the KBO.
